The medical assistant is a vital liaison between the doctor and patient, and plays an important role in diagnosis and treatment. The many different roles assumed in this profession assure a fast moving and challenging career with a variety of opportunities.

Anyone interested in applying for Medical Assisting Program admission is required to attend one of the two pre-conference meetings to be held in HCC’s Technology Center, room 208-A at 9:00am on Monday, June 4th or Wednesday, June 20th. Reservations are not required for the pre-conference meetings.

The Medical Assisting Program application deadline for an August 2018 course start is June 28th. Financial aid is available for those who are eligible. A portion of HCC’s Medical Assisting credentials are also approved for the WorkReady Kentucky Scholarship, which provides free tuition to Kentuckians who meet minimal requirements.

According to HCC Director of Allied Health Beth Beverly, five students graduated from the first cohort during the recent May 4th commencement ceremony.

“A benefit to our medical assisting program is that students begin and proceed through the entire program of courses with the same small group or cohort of students,” explains Beverly. “Our students develop vital relationships with their cohort classmates that become a supportive learning component in their success,” she continues.
