Last season, Yanes Garcia went 16-2 at No. 1 singles, reeling off a 16-match winning streak en route to her third straight All-OVC recognition.

She’s the only player in OVC history with three conference Player of the Year awards and her 16-match winning streak is the second-longest in program history.

This is the second time in two months Yanes Garcia has been accorded an honor from the ITA; in May, she earned the ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Awards for the Ohio Valley region, which recognizes athletes for their pursuit of excellence on and off the court, in all aspects of the game.

She also was named to 2018 Google Cloud Academic All-America® Division I At-Large Third-Team and was one of 20 semifinalists for the Arthur Ashe Jr. Sports Scholar Award, given to the most decorated of the more than 1,000 outstanding minority student-athletes nominated by their respective colleges or universities by Diverse: Issues In Higher Education magazine.
