Bagram Air Field, Afghanistan – As the sun set, the brigade command team, consisting of Col. Stanley Sliwinski, commander of the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade and CSM Anthony B. McAdoo, command sergeant major for 101st Sustainment Brigade, ceremoniously uncased the colors, marking the beginning of the brigade’s fifth deployment to Afghanistan.
“This ceremony reaffirms the continued commitment of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade to our great nation,” said Sliwinski proudly. “And we eagerly accept the call to fight and defend our country. Today is a pivotal moment in Lifeliner lineage and we are honored to be back for our fifth time, answering the Army’s call for deployment.”
Sliwinski then went on to thank Col. Jeff Britton, commander of the 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade, as well as CSM Toby Grisham, and all of the 3rd Infantry Div. Sustainment Brigade soldiers for their aid in facilitating a smooth transition between the two brigades, as well as their service while deployed.
Command Sgt. Maj. McAdoo also praised the performance of 3rd Inf. Div. Sustainment Brigade stating, “The outgoing 3rd Infantry Division Sustainment Brigade has done an outstanding job setting the tone of continued and uninterrupted sustainment support throughout the country.”
With the brigade colors uncased and flying free, CSM McAdoo made it clear that he has high expectations for how the 101st Airborne (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade will perform while deployed.
“Now, as the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Sustainment Brigade, we are excited and honored to take the baton and continue to build upon the successes of our predecessors,” McAdoo said. “This complex mission is our “Rendezvous with Destiny” and I have no doubt that we will exceed any expectation.”
