Nashville, TN -The Nashville Sounds powered their way to a 5-3 win over the Iowa Cubs Saturday night in front of a sellout crowd of 10,904 at First Tennessee Park.
The Sounds jumped on Iowa’s Jen-Ho Tseng early as Ramón Laureano launched a solo home run to lead off the game. Steve Lombardozzi then ripped a ground rule double to the deepest part of the ballpark, right-center field. Three batters later Franklin Barreto flexed his muscles by powering a two-run home run the opposite way and push Nashville’s lead to 4-0.
Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO)
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO) is reminding parents and caregivers of the necessity of child fire safety education this summer in light of a recent analysis of state fire data that reveals an ongoing increase in child fire fatalities during the months of June and July.
Data from the Tennessee Fire Incident Reporting System shows that since 2010 there is an observed increase in fire fatalities and multiple fatality incidents involving children under 18 in the months of June and July. In fact, 16 percent of all Tennessee house fire victims under the age of 18 died in fires in June and July.

Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT)
Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) reports that in Montgomery County the widening of SR 374 (Warfield Boulevard) from South of Dunbar Cave Road to West of Stokes Road will take place Monday, July 9th through Wednesday, July 11th, from 9:00am until 3:30pm.
There will be intermittent road closures on Warfield Boulevard, between Dunbar Cave Road and Stokes Road, for pre-split blasting. All traffic will be halted during the blasting process until all debris is removed from roadway.
Clarksville’s Riverfest Festival
Clarksville, TN – Sister Hazel will be the featured headliner for Riverfest 2018, the City of Clarksville’s arts and entertainment festival now in its 31st year.
Sister Hazel, a mainstay on the Billboard country and adult alternative charts for more than two decades, will perform at 9:15pm Saturday, September 8th on the Miller Lite Stage at McGregor Park. The concert is free and open to the public.
Washington, D.C. – New tracking data confirms that NASA’s OSIRIS-REx spacecraft successfully completed its second Deep Space Maneuver (DSM-2) on June 28th. The thruster burn put the spacecraft on course for a series of asteroid approach maneuvers to be executed this fall that will culminate with the spacecraft’s scheduled arrival at asteroid Bennu on December 3rd.
The DSM-2 burn, which employed the spacecraft’s Trajectory Correction Maneuver (TCM) thruster set, resulted in a 37 miles per hour (16.7 meters per second) change in the vehicle’s velocity and consumed 28.2 pounds (12.8 kilograms) of fuel.
