Four Clarksville Police Officers Receive Lifesaver Awards

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On Friday, September 14th, 2018, four officers were recognized for their actions during emergency situations and were each presented with Lifesaver Awards. The Lifesaver award is given to officers whose direct actions saves or extends the life of another person.

The officers receiving the awards were Officer Adam Post, Officer William Becker, Officer Michael Ciupka and Officer Morgan Baker.

The awards were presented for the following actions:

On April 13th, 2018 Officers Michael Ciupka and Morgan Baker responded to a car versus motorcycle crash at the intersection of North Second Street and Riverside Drive. The motorcyclist had a severe leg injury and was losing blood rapidly. The officers took immediate lifesaving actions to stop the life threatening loss of blood. The individual was flown to Vanderbilt University Medical Center and survived his injuries. The actions of the officers were instrumental in saving the man’s life.

On June 7th, 2018 Officers Adam Post and William Decker responded to a suicide attempt by carbon monoxide poisoning. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a running vehicle inside of a locked garage. Officer Post forced his way into a barricaded garage door. When officers entered, they found a man who was nonresponsive inside of a locked vehicle and the driver’s door was wedged against a wall preventing access to the man. The officers broke out the windows of the car, opened the garage door, and pushed the vehicle out of the poisonous environment. The victim was transported to Tennova Healthcare and survived the attempt on his own life.

The actions of the officers bring great credit upon themselves, the Clarksville Police Department, and the City of Clarksville.
