Clarksville Police Department’s Traffic Unit gets Three Awards at 31st Tennessee Lifesavers Conference, 14th Law Enforcement Challenge

Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department’s traffic unit has dedicated itself to making the roadways in Clarksville safer for it citizens.
The traffic unit’s hard work and efforts were recognized at the Tennessee Lifesavers Conference.
They were the recipients of three auspicious awards.

Memphis, TN – Three Governors led the way for Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s cross country team, earning top-25 finishes to pace the Governors to a sixth-place finish at the Rhodes College Invitational.

Nashville, TN – Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam and Department of Veterans Services Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder recognize the service and sacrifice of U.S. Navy Ensign Harold P. DeMoss of Nashville, who went missing on June 23rd, 1945 while serving as a member of Fighting Squadron 100 (VF-100) from Naval Air Station Barbers Point in Oahu, Hawaii. He was 21 years old.
Knoxville, TN – Sophomore running back Ty Chandler rushed 12 times for a career-best 158 yards and a touchdown, and Tennessee recorded its first shutout since 2016 in a 24-0 victory over UTEP on Saturday afternoon at Neyland Stadium.

Clarksville, TN – Manna Café Ministries will conduct a Mobile Pantry food giveaway on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018.
The Mobile Pantry will be held at Potter’s Hand Church at 1546 US-70, Dover, TN 37058 (8.5 miles from the Montgomery-Stewart County line and just before Rick’s BBQ). The event will begin at 10:00am.
101st Airborne Division
Fort Campbell, KY – Nearly 200 Soldiers consisting primarily of the 74th Composite Truck Company, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, departed Fort Campbell Friday, September 14th, 2018 en route to North Carolina to assist in Hurricane Florence response and recovery efforts.
The “Screaming Eagle” Soldiers departed with almost 100 vehicles, consisting of heavy transport trucks and associated equipment, en route to Fort Bragg, NC. There, they will assist in DOD efforts supporting FEMA and other relief agencies. The 74 CTC’s current mission task is to provide sustainment and container movement, personnel movement, and any additional transportation tasking.
Nashville, TN – In Week 13 of the 2017 season, the Tennessee Titans hosted the division rival Houston Texans and won by a score of 24-13. With the victory, Tennessee evened the season series at 1-1.
The Titans defense took the field first and forced Houston to go three-and-out on their opening possession. On the ensuing punt, CB Adoree’ Jackson returned the ball but lost control and fumbled it. Texans RB Jordan Todman recovered the fumble to give possession back to Houston at the Tennessee 41-yard line. The Texans capitalized on the turnover and kicked a 23-yard field goal to get on the board first, 3-0.
Customs House Museum & Cultural Center
Clarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is offering a series of free art classes to students in grades 1-8 in October. This program, called ART 4 US, will take place during fall break (October 9th-12th).
The Museum recently received a generous Arts Engagement in American Communities grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which allows them to offer a series of free art-making experiences that will begin with these classes.
