Customs House Museum to offer Free Fall Break Art Classes for Students

Customs House Museum & Cultural Center

Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – The Customs House Museum & Cultural Center is offering a series of free art classes to students in grades 1-8 in October. This program, called ART 4 US, will take place during fall break (October 9th-12th).

The Museum recently received a generous Arts Engagement in American Communities grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, which allows them to offer a series of free art-making experiences that will begin with these classes.

Customs House Museum Free Art Classes for Students set for October 9th-12th.

The ART 4 US project is a new community engagement initiative based on the premise that exposure to the visual arts can and should be an edifying encounter for anyone, regardless of skill level, background, age, economic standing, or other perceived barriers to the enjoyment of art.

During four days this fall break, the Museum will offer morning and afternoon workshops led by artists that focus on four different media: drawing, painting, 3-D and multi-media.

Identical classes will be held during morning (8:30am–11:30am) and afternoon sessions (1:00pm–4:00pm) each day. Registrants may attend 1, 2, 3, or 4 days of classes, but they must sign up for either the morning or afternoon session for each day.

Each session will offer three classes separated by grade level groups: 1st-3rd, 4th-5th, and 6th-8th. Each class is limited to 20 participants. Participants are enrolled on a first reserved, first-served basis until the classes are filled. The Museum will maintain a waiting list for each class once it is filled.

Participants must register on-site at the Museum. A separate enrollment form is required for each participant at the time of registration.
