Clarksville Police Department
Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Police have been trying to locate Kaitlin Patterson, who has been associated with the mail thefts utilizing a postal service master key. She was picked up in Hopewell Virginia at approximately 6:30pm last night, Wednesday, September 26th, 2018.
Clarksville Police Officer Tim Simulis was, in a large part, instrumental in tracking her down. He followed some investigative leads which indicated she was in Hopewell, Virginia.
He contacted law enforcement officers in Hopewell and provided information on a possible location for Patterson.
Hopewell officers located and took her in custody on three outstanding warrants from Clarksville for Criminal Conspiracy for Forgery, Criminal Conspiracy for Identity Theft, and Violation of Probation warrants without incident.
Patterson is part of an ongoing investigation involving theft of mail and forgery utilizing a postal master key to gain access to the blue postal and apartment mailboxes in Clarksville. There have already been search warrants executed in Murfreesboro Tennessee where mail and equipment to alter or duplicate checks were located.
Adam Perelli, 39, who Patterson is associated with, was already charged with six counts of forgery and two counts of conspiracy, September 5th, 2018, with more charges pending.
Additionally, the whole operation appears to be well organized and thought out.
The postal service master key still has not been located so citizens need to continue to monitor their accounts and follow-up on mailed checks and on those checks expected to be delivered.
Kaitlin Patterson, 29 is awaiting extradition
The investigation is ongoing and more charges are expected.
The lead investigator is Detective Beaubien, 931.648.0656, ext. 5145.
