Election 2018Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County “League Of Voter Empowerment” (L.O.V.E.), a voters club comprised of local residents who meet monthly to discuss politics and the current state of governmental affairs, has announced its endorsements for the November 6th, 2018 Federal, State and City General Election.

We believe the following group of candidates hold true to our mission statement of “having the best interest of their constituents in mind” and will best represent the people of our nation; state, city and county in the true democracy manner in which this country was built on.

City of Clarksville staff takes part in United Way Field Day event

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – City of Clarksville employees competed Tuesday in the 2nd Annual United Way Field Day event to kick-off the annual workplace giving campaign.

Twelve six-member teams from across the City of Clarksville gathered at the Wilma Rudolph Events Center compete in nine “minute-to-win-it” games, including Ping Pong Shake, Elephant March and Balloon Pop. Team names were equally creative, including Blue Light Special, Killa Watts, Perfectly Balanced and Codes Crusaders.

Austin Peay State University’s Phi Kappa Phi chapter is collecting books for G.H.O.S.T. Halloween event

Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TN – For the 16th consecutive Halloween, the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi (PKP) at Austin Peay State University (APSU) is collecting new and gently used children’s books for its Candy for the Mind project.

Members of the campus and local community are invited to support this effort through donations of books or money for the purchase of books.

This week’s contest marks the franchise’s first regular season game at an overseas location. As the Houston Oilers, the team played preseason games in Tokyo (Tokyo Dome, 1992) and Mexico City (Stadium Azteca, 1994).

Clarksville Quilters donate Handmade Quilts to Clarksville Police Department

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville area quilters generously donated 133 handmade trunk quilts to the Clarksville Police Department.

The trunk quilts are meant to provide comfort to children or something to hold onto when they are going through a difficult time or feel like their world is crumbling in all around them.

One of the quilters said, “Many hands gave many hours to help make officer’s jobs a little easier on the really bad days and hopefully give a child a positive memory from a negative experience”.

Austin Peay State University honoring famed campus statue during celebration November 1st

In Clarksville, officials at Austin Peay State University participated in the event by commissioning Dr. James Diehr, professor of ceramics and sculpture, to produce a piece for the University’s front lawn.

Fort Campbell Soldier Brittney Silvers Dies in Off-Duty Shooting Incident

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – At approximately 10:00pm, October 14th, 2018, a Fort Campbell Soldier died as the result of an off-duty shooting incident on post.

Spc. Brittney Niecol Silvers, of Jacksonville, Florida, was an automated logistical specialist in the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault).

She joined the Army in 2011 and completed training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and Fort Lee, Virginia. She served for several years at Fort Hood, Texas before arriving to Fort Campbell  back in 2016.
