Nashville, TN – The Tennessee Titans (3-3) travel to London this week to face the Los Angeles Chargers (4-2). Kickoff at Wembley Stadium (capacity 84,000-plus) is scheduled for 2:30pm BST/8:30am CDT on Sunday, October 21st, 2018.
This week’s contest marks the franchise’s first regular season game at an overseas location. As the Houston Oilers, the team played preseason games in Tokyo (Tokyo Dome, 1992) and Mexico City (Stadium Azteca, 1994).
The game will be nationally televised on CBS, including Nashville affiliate WTVF NewsChannel 5. Play-by-play announcer Greg Gumbel and analysts Trent Green and Bruce Arians will call the action, and Melanie Collins will report from the sidelines.
Live local and primetime games are now available for all fans on their phones and tablets, regardless of mobile provider. Fans can download the free NFL app to watch their local team live when they are on-the-go.
The Titans Radio Network, including Nashville flagship 104.5 The Zone, will carry the game across the Mid-South with the “Voice of the Titans” Mike Keith, analyst Dave McGinnis, sideline reporter Amie Wells and gameday hosts Rhett Bryan and Jonathan Hutton.
Additionally, Westwood One will broadcast the game to a national radio audience. Play-by-play announcer Ryan Radtke and analyst Ross Tucker will have the call.
The Titans hosted the Ravens last week and fell by a final score of 21-0. The Ravens defense totaled 11 sacks in their victory, and offensively they converted 12 of 17 attempts on third down. Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco passed for 238 yards and a touchdown, while running back Alex Collins rushed for two scores.
Despite the loss, the Titans retained a share of first place in the AFC South. The Jacksonville Jaguars, who were tied with the Titans atop the division entering last week, traveled to Dallas and fell to the Cowboys.
Meanwhile, the Houston Texans pulled even with the Titans and Jaguars at 3-3 with their home victory over the Buffalo Bills.
However, the Titans already have wins this season over the Jaguars and Texans.
Following their trip to London, the Titans will enjoy a Week 8 bye. They return to action with a Monday night meeting with the Cowboys on November 5th in Dallas.
The Chargers traveled to Cleveland last week and cruised to a 38-14 victory. Running back Melvin Gordon rushed for 132 yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Philip Rivers added two passing touchdowns in the win. The Chargers defense totaled five sacks, and cornerback Desmond King contributed a pair of interceptions.
Rivers is in his 15th NFL campaign. The Decatur, AL, native is a seven-time Pro Bowl selection and ranks eighth in NFL history with 52,050 passing yards. His 95.6 career passer rating is the 10th-best in league history.
Anthony Lynn is in his second season as the head coach of the Chargers.
He guided the club to a 9-7 record in 2017, which was a four-game improvement from the previous season. Prior to joining the Chargers, Lynn was the assistant head coach and running backs coach for the Buffalo Bills from 2015–2016.
