Nashville Zoo Celebrates Reading this November

Nashville Zoo

Nashville ZooNashville, TN – The first two Saturdays in November guests have a chance to hear exciting stories while experiencing the Zoo’s animal habitats. During Nashville Zoo’s annual “Celebrate Reading” event, visitors follow a story map to hear a different children’s book read to them every half hour at various stops around the Zoo. Celebrate Reading will be held on November 3rd and 10th, 2018 from 10:00am–2:00pm.

The Zoo will offer complimentary attraction tickets (limit of four tickets per person) for anyone donating new or “like new” children’s books during the two Celebrate Reading dates.

Attraction tickets can be used to ride on the carousel, zip line and train, or feed the lorikeets and tortoises.

All books will be donated to Book ‘em, a local nonprofit helping economically disadvantaged children discover the joy and value of reading through book ownership. Through their Nashville Kids book distribution program, Book ’em provides more than 30,000 books annually to children in Middle Tennessee.

Zoo staff and docents will read a variety of children’s books along the Zoo’s pathways at half-hour intervals.

Additionally, the Zoo will offer a chance for guests to meet some animals up-close if weather permits. Celebrate Reading is included with Zoo admission or membership. Little Debbie will be providing snacks for the event and guests are encouraged to bring blankets for seating. More information can be found here.
