APSU Women's GolfClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s golf team looks to close out its fall with the same result the Govs enjoyed a year ago—a victory—when they defend their title at the 2018 Town and Country Invitational at McCabe Golf Course in Nashville.

McCabe plays at 5,814 yards and a par-70, and traditional three-player pairings from three different teams are eschewed for a team format, with all five Govs in the lineup playing together.

The Govs will tee off last, in the 12:10pm slot, off hole No. 1. Preceding them will be five-player teams from Belmont, Cumberland, Freed Hardeman, Lipscomb, Tennessee Tech and host Tennessee State.

The Govs not only won this tournament a year ago, they did so by breaking the program-record round in back-to-back rounds (292-291) to win by 22 strokes. While individual champion AnnaMichelle Moore has departed following graduation, two Govs from the all-tournament team a year ago are back in action for Austin Peay this year—senior Ashton Goodley was the runner-up in this event at 145 (72-73), which served as the springboard to her All-OVC accolades, while fellow senior Reagan Greene’s 150 (75-75) placed her fifth.

Greene will play as the No. 2 this week, while Goodley will slot in as the No. 5. Taylor Goodley enters the week as the No. 1 after tying for fourth two weeks ago at the rain-shortened Fred Marx Invitational in Louisiana. She will be joined by freshmen Shelby Darnell at No. 3 and Taylor Dedmen at No. 4 to round out the Governor lineup; junior Meghann Stamps and sophomore Andrea Presilla also will make the trek to Nashville as individual competitors.

“This tournament is a great event for us to hopefully end the fall season on a high note,” said head coach Amy McCollum. “We kept things extremely competitive among the team this week, and look forward to taking that same mindset through the weekend. We loved getting to play together as one group here last year and really saw a lot of positive momentum from being together.”

Live scoring will not be available for this event, but a full compendium of stats and a complete recap of the day will be available after the round at On-course updates can be found on Twitter @AustinPeayWGO
