Chattanooga, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis team experienced more success after their lone match at the Steve Baras Fall Invitational, Sunday, at the UTC Tennis Center.
The tournament was played like a series of dual matches, with the Govs scheduled to play Troy Saturday, but rain altered those plans and the two teams finished up Sunday.
The Govs were led by senior Almantas Ozelis once again, as he collected two wins against Troy. Ozelis also went undefeated in his three singles matches this weekend. Ozelis and Anton Damberg also picked up another win at No. 1 doubles and finished the weekend 2-1 in doubles. Ozelis was 5-1 overall in the six matches he played in, the best mark on the Govs.
Christian Edison and Oliver Andersson also went 2-1 on the weekend in doubles after a narrow victory on Sunday. Andersson also forced a third set in his singles match, but narrowly lost a tiebreaker.
Timo Kiesslich and Jacob Lorino normally find success when playing together in doubles, but each won their singles matches today to give the Govs what would have been a 4-3 victory if it were an actual dual match.
With the tournament ending, the Govs concluded their fall slate and will look forward to training hard to prepare for the spring.
