Nashville Predators defeat Dallas Stars with overtime thriller 5-4

Nashville PredatorsClarksville, TN – The Nashville Predators just wouldn’t quit against the Dallas Stars on Saturday afternoon, capping off a roaring comeback victory, 5-4.

Mattias Ekholm closed the sale with his overtime winner at 2:27 of the extra frame.

The Predators improve to an 8-0-0 road record for the year, which is the third longest win record to the start of an NHL season since the 2006-2007 season when the Buffalo Sabres won their first 10 games away from home.

The New Jersey Devils won their first nine in 2009-2010.

Nashville scoring came from Ryan Hartman, Ryan Johansen, Roman Josi and Yannick Weber, with Ekholm snatching the game winner.  Juuse Saros started in goal and made 20 saves on the day.

Constantly fighting from behind, Nashville would tie the game at 3-3 when Weber fired a wrister from the right point with just under two minutes remaining in the third period.

Denis Gurianov would give the Stars what appeared to be the margin of victory at 4-3 at 8:58 of the third period on a deflected shot that beat Saros.

Roman Josi would bring Nashville even at 4-4 with just forty three seconds remaining in the game.  With their net empty and his team on the power play, Josi took an amazing pass from Ryan Johansen to score the tying goal.

In the overtime period, the Predators were forced to fend off a 4 on 3 power play, with Dallas missing several shots that fired off the posts.

Once at even strength, the Predators went on the offensive when Ekholm scored the game winner.

Nashville improves to 13-3, with their only losses coming at home.  They travel to Anaheim for a Monday night matchup against the Ducks.
