APSU Women's BasketballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s basketball team continues its homestand by welcoming Mississippi Valley State to the Dunn Center, 7:00pm, Monday, November 19th.

The Governors (2-2) are coming off a 90-78 win over Trevecca in their most recent outing and are currently 2-0 at home.

Keisha Gregory put up the single-game high in points for a Gov this season with 19 against the Trojans, while Brandi Ferby (16) and Gabby Gregory (13) also had career highs in points.

Arielle Gonzalez-Varner had a quiet first half, but ended up tying her career high in rebounds with 14. The Govs were below par from the free throw line entering the game, but went an impressive 17-for-19 from the stripe, including a perfect nine-for-nine performance from Keisha.

The Govs have heavily relied on the three-pointer this season and come into Monday’s game ranked second in the entire country in total three-pointers made with 43.

About Mississippi Valley State

The Delta Devilettes (0-2) have had a rough start to the season after touring the state of Texas. They dropped games against Southern Methodist and Texas Christian.

Mississippi Valley has struggled shooting from the floor and the free-throw line, but have done well defending the three-pointer. MaKayla Bonner and LaKendra Bassett have led the offense for Mississippi Valley. Bonner is averaging 11 points a game on 40 percent shooting while Bassett is averaging nine a game with six assists per game as well.

The game between the two schools is the first meeting since 1988. Mississippi Valley leads the all-time series, 2-0.
