Nashville Predators fall to the Colorado Avalanche 3-2

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators couldn’t get head coach Peter Laviolette his 200th victory as the Nashville bench boss tonight as the Colorado Avalanche proved to be too much, winning in Nashville, 3-2.

Colorado was led by Nathan MacKinnon who scored twice on the night and ended Nashville’s 11 game win streak against the Avs, and also ended Nashville’s six-game home win streak.

The Predators got on the board first when Ryan Hartman scored off of a rebound to put Nashville ahead 1-0.

MacKinnon would tie the game and give Colorado the lead, scoring at 13:10 of the first period then again at 6:22 of the second period, and the Avs took a 2-1 lead.

Kevin Fiala who’s been getting a lot of ice time on the first line lately, due to the injury to Viktor Arvidsson, redirected a Filip Forsberg pass at 9:06 of the second period and the game was tied, 2-2.

Laviolette had high praise for Fiala again after tonight’s game during his press conference pointing out his speed and how he generated scoring chances all night long.

Nashville found themselves defending a power play at 5:07 of the third period and Tyson Jost took advantage of it for Colorado, scoring the eventual game winner to put the Avs ahead for good, 3-2.

This was a divisional match-up between the two teams with the Predators firing 38 shots on goal, but they couldn’t convert on several prime opportunities on the night.

Nashville will be on home ice again Thursday night as the Arizona Coyotes will be in town for a 7pm puck drop.

The Chicago Blackhawks will be in Smashville on Saturday night.
