The Govs and Trojans have become intimately familiar in recent years; this will be their fourth meeting since 2014, with Austin Peay emerging as the victor in all four contests.

The matchup between Terry Taylor and Jordon Varnado should be a fun one to witness. Taylor is averaging 18.0 points and 11.0 rebounds per contest, and had a breakout game with 27 points—20 in the second half—against Troy last year. Varnado, the Trojans veteran big man, was injured and out of action during last year’s contest and isn’t too shabby himself, averaging 16.5 ppg and 9.2 rpg.

About the Troy Trojans

Troy won’t hurt itself; the Trojans are one of six teams nationally in the top-20 in turnovers per game (10.2, 17th) and personal fouls (14.0, 7th) per game and come into Thursday’s contest off back-to-back wins against North Alabama and Central Arkansas.

The long ball giventh and taketh from the Trojans, who are shooting 34.9 percent and hitting 8.5 threes per game but surrendering 9.5 threes at a 35.4 percent clip to opponents. Javan Johnson is averaging 2.2 threes per game for the Trojans, but hopefully Zach Glotta and Jarrett Givens can capitalize on the Trojans struggles defending the three-ball.

Last Time Against Troy

Terry Taylor scored 20 of his team-high 27 points in the second half and keyed a game-changing 18-2 run to lead Austin Peay back from a first-half deficit and secure a 75-73 win against the Trojans in the Dunn Center, December 19th, 2017.

Austin Peay dominated on the boards, particularly on the offensive end, where 13 offensive rebounds yielded a 15-5 advantage for Austin Peay in second-chance points.

Keep An Eye On

Zach Glotta has made 14 consecutive free-throws dating back to last season.

The Governors 76.8 percent mark at the charity stripe on the season would be second all-time; they’ve upped teat recently, hitting 79.5 percent at the line in their last four games.

Sophomore Dayton Gumm needs seven points for 400 in his Austin Peay career.

Austin Peay has won six straight games against the Sun Belt and is 39-18 all-time against members of the league.

Glotta leads the Ohio Valley Conference in three-pointers per game (3.0) and is third in percentage (51.4 percent).
