The Govs had the lead for the majority of the game in each contest and know finishing the close games just a little better will translate into more positive results going forward.

Brianah Ferby led the Govs in scoring in each game, including a season-high 19-point performance against Western Illinois. Arielle Gonzalez-Varner also contributed with a double-double against Western Illinois and she leads the Govs in points, rebounds, steals, and blocks.

The Govs hit a total of 21 three-pointers across the two games, which as of Saturday has them ranked in the top 20 in the country for three-pointers made (85) and three-pointers made per game (9.4). The Govs have also improved their free-throw shooting, shooting a better percentage than their season average in each of their last four games.

Sunday’s game will also come with a little festive spirit for Govs fans who attend. Since it is National Christmas Card Day, there will be a special decorating station in the front lobby. The game will also be the last chance for fans to see the squad at home before opening the conference season, January 3rd, against Eastern Kentucky.

About the Alabama A&M Bulldogs

The Bulldogs (2-4) have had some decent results to start the season. While losing a game is not ideal, the Bulldogs only lost to Kansas on the road by 10 points and actually won the second half. The Bulldogs also defeated Ohio Valley Conference foes Tennessee State at home and then Murray State in their most recent outing on the road.

The Bulldogs have not shot the ball particularly well this year, with the 22 percent mark from the three-point line perhaps the most glaring figure. The Bulldogs do rebound the ball well though, as evidenced by their +3.7 rebounding margin per game. They also give up less than 68 points a game, the third-lowest for an APSU opponent this season.

The Govs will more than likely put a lot of attention on guard Nigeria Jones in the scouting report. Like Gonzalez-Varner, Jones leads the Bulldogs in four separate categories: points, assists, steals, and blocks. The Govs lead the all-time series, 4-1, including going on the road to defeat the Bulldogs last season, a game in which Keisha Gregory led all scorers (17 points) and rebounders (eight boards).
