Clarksville's Customs House Museum and Cultural CenterClarksville, TN – As December comes to a close, so does some of the exhibits at the Customs House Museum amd Cultural Center. Viewers have until December 31st to take in the photography of Price Harrison and the paintings of award-winning artist Camille Engel.

Nashville-based painter Camille Engel is a self-taught artist known for her hyper-realism nature paintings. Engel works in the “indirect layering” technique of the Dutch Masters to create her art.

The artist was named one of our nation’s “Artists to Watch” in 2014 by Southwest Art magazine and by Fine Art Connoisseur magazine in 2010.

Camille’s works are in private and corporate collections throughout the U.S., including The Tennessee State Museum, the Ellen Noel Art Museum in Texas, Baptist Hospital, and the Chattanoogan Hotel, Tennessee.

Camille says of her work “I am amazed and fascinated with light play, color, and texture, seeking to capture the richness of life. Each oil painting invites the viewer to step into my world and experience the transcendent beauty all around us”.

The exhibition of her work, titled Her Home Tennessee, interprets the Tennessee state symbols. Along with Camille’s work, the museum is displaying interpretations of the state symbols done by children. Juried by a panel of the Nashville Artist Guild, thirteen works were selected. The winning artworks were professionally framed by Jerry’s Artarama and scanned by Chromatics, Nashville, Tennessee.

Price Harrison is an architect, musician and photographer, living in Nashville. He designs buildings, products, album art, writes songs and produces videos. Price’s exhibition in the museum’s Planters Bank Peg Harvill Gallery features a series of new photography titled She’s Not There.

The photographs were taken over the course of the past three years in Nashville and Los Angeles. The images have a voyeuristic and surreal feel to them; as well as, a sense of nostalgia. One can easily see the influence of Harrison’s architectural background coming through.

Both exhibitions will run through December. The Customs House Museum is closed December 24th, 25th, and January 1st.
