Nashville Predators continue their slide losing to the Dallas Stars 2-0

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators have some good news and bad news tonight.

First the good news;

Viktor Arvidsson and P.K Subban returned to the line-up as Nashville hosted the Dallas Stars.

The bad news;

The Predators lost 2-0.

The Predators were hoping to regain their “mojo” after the Christmas break, coming off of a disastrous road trip where they only picked up one point in four games, but as hard as they played, they couldn’t get the puck in the net.

Tyler Pitlick took a feed from Radek Faksa at 7:20 of the first period to put the Stars on the board, for the eventual game winner, 1-0.  The wrist shot beat Pekka Rinne on the glove side for the score.

Mattias Janmark carried the puck into the offensive zone and fired a rocket of a shot into the glove of Rinne, but the force of the shot caused the puck to “boomerang” off the netting of the glove and creeped into the net for the 2-0 final score.

Nashville fired 49 shots on goal but were unable to break through starting goalie, Anton Khudobin, who stopped a career high number of shots on goal during a Predators home game shutout.  Khudobin was named the first star of the game.

Nashville goalie Pekka Rinne stopped 28 of 30 shots on goal.

The return of Arvidsson and Subban was highly anticipated and was expected to add a little more offensive punch to the lineup.  Arvidsson was returning from a broken thumb and Subban had been on the injured list for an undisclosed upper body injury.

Filip Forsberg is still missing from the lineup and Colton Sissons and Yannick Weber were out of tonight’s game.

Predators return to the Bridgestone Arena Saturday night to host the New York Rangers.  Puck drops at 7pm
