After dominating Eastern Kentucky in the conference opener by scoring 100 points in an OVC game for the first time since 2002, the Govs played an instant classic against Morehead State.

The Govs were down seven late, but closed on a 10-2 run to win the game off a Brianah Ferby free-throw.

The Govs were led by Keisha Gregory, who earned OVC Co-Player of the Week after back-to-back games of 19 and 25 points. Gregory shot over 70 percent from the field and also made her 100th career three-pointer in the win against Eastern Kentucky.

Gregory was not the only Gov contributing. Gabby Gregory scored a career-high 20 points in just 12 minutes against EKU, while freshman Maggie Knowles poured in a career-high 14 points while grabbing seven rebounds in the crucial win against Morehead.

About the Southeast Missouri Redhawks

The Redhawks (6-7, 1-1 OVC) had a rough start to their season, but have won four of their past six games, including a win on the road at Evansville, who the Govs lost to in the last game of 2018. The Redhawks got off to a great start in OVC play, defeating SIU Edwardsville on the road, but then fell to UT Martin at home as they joined a host of teams at 1-1 after the first weekend of play.

The Redhawks are led by All-OVC Preseason pick Tesia Thompson, who averages over 17 points per game and is also the leading rebounder, grabbing 6.7 rebounds per game. Adrianna Murphy is the second-leading scorer (11.9 ppg) and rebounder (4.5 rpg) as well. Murphy is also the main three-point threat the Redhawks possess.

The Govs have won the last five meetings and the last eight of 10 overall against the Redhawks. The Govs have also won the past two meetings in Cape Girardeau by double-digits, as they look to go 3-0 to start OVC play.
