The Govs tied for first alongside Murray State, with each team garnering 58 points.

However, the Govs had the edge in first place-votes, picking up six of the nine while the Racers only collected three.

Lidia Yanes Garcia was selected as the No. 1 player in the Preseason Top 10 Player Rankings, improving from her No. 2 spot a year ago. Yanes Garcia is the three-time defending OVC Player of the Year and is the only player in OVC history to win the award three times. Yanes Garcia went 8-3 in singles in the fall and won both of her singles matches in straight sets to help the Govs to an undefeated start last weekend.

Defending OVC Freshman of the Year Fabienne Schmidt checks in at No. 3 on the list. Schimdt joined Yanes Garcia and Carolin Weikard as being only one of three players in program history to claim the award. Schmidt finished with a 7-3 record in singles and a 5-2 record in doubles this past fall, but is currently injured and hopes to get back soon.

Rounding out the APSU players in the preseason player rankings is Tatiana Lopez, a junior transfer from Kansas. Lopez was consistently ranked in the Top 80 in the ITA Doubles Rankings while at Kansas and formed a formidable pairing with Schmidt in her action as a Gov in the fall. Like Yanes Garcia, Lopez also won both of her singles matches this past weekend.
