Boynton, who made the Express’ roster as a defensive back, enjoyed a stellar career at Austin Peay, initially as a wide receiver before transitioning to his role in the secondary.

As a freshman, Boynton hit the field immediately as a threat on offense, finishing second on the team with 25 receptions for 208 yards and touchdown. He also returned 15 kickoffs for 342 yards.

He transitioned to defensive back as a sophomore, and made an immediate impact, recording 58 total tackles – including 2.5 for loss – and five pass break ups.

In his senior season, Boynton did a little bit of everything for the Govs: he racked up 50 total tackles, notched his first career interception, broke up an additional two passes, forced three fumbles and recovered two.

Boynton finished his career with 158 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss and 11 passes defended. His play earned him an invitation to the Pittsburgh Steelers rookie camp in 2018.

Boynton and the Express have five home games during the regular season at the Liberty Bowl in Memphis, with games on February 16th, March 2nd, March 24th, March 30th and April 13th.
