This meet will bring together a conglomerate of area Division I programs as everyone gets set for conference championship season.

In addition to the Governors, the OVC will be represented by Belmont, Jacksonville State, Murray State and Tennessee Tech, with high-level athletes from USTFCCCA South Region titans like Lipscomb (ranked 32nd), Chattanooga (33rd), Georgia State (34th), Alabama State (35th), Alcorn State (37th) and Alabama A&M (42nd) also in the field.

2019 APSU Track and Field - Dascha HixThe Govs will have a short Friday, with only the 200m dash and the high jump on the docket, with the Governors putting Sabrina Richman, Kyra Wilder, Tymeitha Tolbert and more into a packed 14-heat 200m event.

Saturday dawns with an 8:00am start time in the field events, with the running events slated for a 9:00am start.

In the pole vault, seniors Dascha Hix and Savannah Amato will be the top two seeds in the field but they, along with sophomore Morgan Bradley, will be pushed by Murray State’s Brooke Misukonis, who ranks fourth in the event after last week’s 3.70m mark at the Rod McCravy Memorial.

2019 APSU Track and Field - Savannah AmatoSophomore Lennex Walker and freshman Camaryn McClelland both bring top-five standing into the weekend, Walker in the triple jump and McClelland in the long jump. Both are less than a foot from top-three standing among league competitors.

Tolbert and standout freshman Tiyanna Johnson will take part in the 60m dash, with both looking to secure their spot in the league’s top-10 heading into the championships.

Also pulling double-duty will be Walker, who looks to back up last week’s season-best 8.70 60m hurdle performance with another strong showing in Birmingham.

With Richman in the 200m, she’ll sit out the 400 and won’t add to her league-leading 55.41 mark in that event but freshman Mikaela Smith looks to break into the top-five in the 800m with a solid showing in that event.

Live results for this meet will be available through xpresstiming.com; a complete recap will be available at the conclusion of competition, Saturday.
