Fort Campbell to hold two Welcome Home Ceremonies for 101st Airborne Division Soldiers returning from Afghanistan

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – Soldiers assigned to “Task Force Destiny,” 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) will continue to return here through February, after a nine-month deployment to Afghanistan.

More than 300 Soldiers will return in two welcome home ceremonies, scheduled to occur February 11th, at 9:30pm and February 15th, at 12:20pm. They will join more than 300 who returned earlier this month.

During their deployment, the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade provided aviation support to U.S., coalition and Afghan forces throughout the Combined Joint Operations Area-Afghanistan.

Task Force Destiny exceeded 50,000 flight hours, transporting more than seven million pounds of cargo and 91,000 passengers, and conducting 1,700 security missions and 256 air assault operations.

Additionally, five Soldiers received the Distinguished Flying Cross for their heroism and valor.
