Montgomery County Commission selects Andrew Kester as New Director for the Veterans Service Organization

Montgomery County Government TennesseeMontgomery County, TN – Andrew Kester has been approved as the Director of the Montgomery County Veterans Service Organization (VSO). Although Kester was selected for the position on February 5th, 2019 the process requires approval by the County Commission.

Kester was approved by the County Commissioners at tonight’s formal county commission meeting. He will begin leading the VSO on February 19th.

Kester retired from the U.S. Army as a first sergeant in 2010.

After retiring from the military, he began working as an education coordinator and applications trainer for MinXray, INC and most recently worked as an adjunct professor for Graduate Leadership Studies at Western Kentucky University and a radiology staffing manager at QTC Medical Group in Clarksville.

Kester earned his Ed.D in organizational leadership from Western Kentucky University, his M.S. in health education at Touro University, his B.S. in health care management at National American University and his A.A.S. in Medical Imaging at Thomas Edison State College.

“My family has been residing in Montgomery County since 2008. We have a son attending Austin Peay State University and a daughter at Rossview High. We are vested in the success of Montgomery County and I’m looking forward to serving our military veterans. I’m excited about this transition from healthcare to caring for our veterans,” said Kester.

“We are confident in our choice for the new VSO Director. He brings extensive military experience to the table and his background in healthcare will be an asset to our veterans,” said Montgomery County Mayor Jim Durrett.

The VSO assists veterans in navigating the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs system in applying for a variety of benefits and entitlements.
