Las Vegas, NV– The Las Vegas Golden Knights ran roughshod over the Nashville Predators tonight in sin city, breaking a five game home losing streak with the win, 5-1.
Nashville starting goalie Juuse Saros blocked 45 shots on the night, but Las Vegas attempted the most shots on goal for the season against Nashville with 50.
The Predators thought they had the first goal of the night in the first period when Colton Sissons scored on a breakaway, but the goal was disallowed when Vegas challenged for off side. After the video review, it was determined that Sissons WAS in fact off side, so no goal.
Max Pacioretty, who had two goals on the night, scored at 17:17 of the first period as he kept poking at the puck in the Nashville goal crease and eventually slipped into the back of the net for the 1-0 lead.
Brandon Pirri then scored the power play goal at 10:53 of the second period, grabbing his own rebound and firing home the score for the 2-0 Las Vegas lead.
Into the third period, Las Vegas continued their onslaught as Paul Stastny found Shea Theodore who was all alone to beat Juuse Saros on the backhand and now the Golden Knights held a 3-0 lead.
The only goal of the night for the Predators came from Kevin Fiala at 4:17 of the final frame when he scored on a breakaway that beat Vegas goalie Malcolm Subban, and the Predators were within two, 3-1.
But that would be all for Nashville.
Oscar Lindberg would score on the one-timer at 13:48 for the 4-1 lead, then Pacioretty would gather his second of the night at 15:17 and that would be all she wrote. Vegas wins, 5-1.
Nashville will try to shake this performance off and travel to Dallas for a Tuesday night matchup with the Stars.
The Predators return home on Thursday night to face the L.A Kings at Bridgestone Arena. Puck drops at 7pm.
