APSU Men's GolfClarksville, TN – After just missing a win at last week’s Invitational at Savannah Harbor, Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s golf will face a significant test in its still-young spring season when the Govs begin the Tiger Invitational presented by Jason Dufner, Sunday, in Opelika, Alabama.

The Auburn-hosted event will pit some of the best programs and players in the south against one another on the picturesque par-72, 7,289-yard Grand National on the Lake Course in Opelika, part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail.

This tournament will feature not only host and reigning SEC champion Auburn but top-25 programs in SMU and Arkansas State and regional powerhouses fresh off conference tournament wins like UNC Wilmington (Colonial) or good enough to earn at-large bids into the 2018 NCAA Golf Chamionships (Kennesaw State, Missouri).

After an agonizingly close finish last week in Savannah, Georgia the Govs will send the same five competitors out in Opelika, albeit in a different order. Junior Michael Busse more than earned is ascension into the top spot after placing fourth with a one-under 215 at Savannah Harbor, and the rest of the lineup will mirror last week’s finish: sophomore Chase Korte, junior Austin Lancaster, freshman Micah Knisley and sophomore Garrett Whitfield will comprise the Governors lineup this week.

Austin Peay remains one of the most youthful teams at every turn; among the field, only the Governors, FAU, Lipscomb, ULM and SMU will have no seniors in the lineup. The Govs will be paired with ULM and Western Kentucky, beginning 7:50 a.m. off Hole No. 1.

The last time Austin Peay had representatives in Auburn, it was for the 2014 NCAA Men’s Golf Auburn Regional, which Austin Peay legend Marco Iten won as an individual.

Live scoring for the event will be provided via GolfStat.com; a complete recap of each day will be available at LetsGoPeay.com, with periodic scoring updates on Twitter (@AustinPeayMGO).
