Austin Peay State University (APSU)
Clarksville, TN – On February 22nd, 2019 Austin Peay State University (APSU) representatives presented at a national conference on high-impact practices, HIPS in States, at Western Kentucky University.
Staff members Ashlee Spearman, Alexandra Wills and Allie Campbell, along with students Antonette Wade and Amaya Sutphen, presented on several of the HIP programs that Austin Peay offers students.
The panel presentation, “A Targeted Approach to HIP Involvement: Learning Communities, Service Learning, Study Abroad and More,” focused on a living and learning community that incorporated study abroad and service-learning courses.
Additionally the presentation shared how the University’s sophomore-level community is focused on internships and global issues. The students shared their experiences in the latter program and talked about high-impact practices from a student perspective.
The staff and students received funding from the Tennessee Board of Regents to attend and present at the conference.
