APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball’s Morgan Rackel added two more weekly honors to her selection as this week’s Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week by being named both the collegesportsmadness.com Player of the Week for the OVC and the Tennessee Sports Writers College Pitcher of the Week.

2019 APSU Softball - Morgan Rackel

This is the second time Rackel, a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has taken all three honors in the same week, with the other coming in the first week of May 2018.

Rackel went 2-0 over the past week, opening with a 4-0 shutout versus McNeese, allowing only three hits while striking out nine.

Rackel would closed her week in the circle with a school-record 16-inning, 2-1, complete-game victory versus McNeese, throwing 217 total pitches (154 for strikes) over the three-hour, 56-minute contest – the longest game played in program history, both in innings and in time.

Rackel would finish the game by getting the final 45 outs without giving up a run after surrendering a score in the bottom of the second inning. She also totaled a career-high 16 strikeouts in the contest – eight of which ended innings — including the final out of the game.

Overall, Rackel had a 0.30 ERA and 25 strikeouts in 23 innings while holding opponents to a .198 team batting average and giving up just one run over that span.
