The Governors (9-0) defeated Kennesaw State by a score of 4-0 before outlasting Stetson, 4-3, in the first two matches of the road trip.

The Govs were out in front early against Kennesaw State, leading to a routine win.

Despite the 4-3 scoreline at Stetson, the Govs actually won the first four points of the match to clinch it. Stetson won the remaining three singles matches to make the scoreline close, but the Govs had control of the match early on.

Tatiana Lopez and Honoka Nakanishi won both doubles matches over the weekend, with the duo now having won five in a row. Claudia Yanes Garcia also won each of her two singles matches at No. 2 singles and is the lone Gov to be undefeated in singles this spring.

About the Valdosta State Blazers

The Blazers (0-7) come into the match winless, despite playing some tough competition. They have played five teams ranked in the NCAA Division II Poll and also took on UT Martin in their most recent outing, losing 5-2 at home. The match will be the first-ever meeting between the two programs as well.
