The Govs played two of their three road matches last week, starting with a 4-3 win at Stetson. Despite the close scoreline, the Govs clinched the match by going up 4-0, thanks to winning the doubles point and Claudia Yanes Garcia earning the deciding point at No. 2 singles.

The Govs then made a stop in Georgia to take on Valdosta State, where they kept on rolling in tune with another shutout victory. Lidia Yanes Garcia clinched the match this time, winning in straight sets at No. 2 singles. Danielle Morris also won at No. 6 singles and Fabienne Schmidt won her first singles match since her return from injury at No. 4 singles.

Claudia Yanes Garcia remains undefeated in singles this spring with a 9-0 record. Overall, Yanes Garcia is 13-2 in singles since the fall and remains in one of the top two spots in the lineup. The doubles duo of Tatiana Lopez and Honoka Nakanishi is also on a six-match win streak after winning against Valdosta State.

About the Dayton Flyers

The Flyers (4-9) are coming down for a Middle Tennessee tour, as they will play the Govs, Belmont, and Lipscomb in three consecutive days.

Dayton has not had the best start to its season, including a dismal 0-7 road record. The Flyers have played two common opponents in IUPUI and Western Kentucky, losing both matches. The Govs beat both the Jaguars and the Hilltoppers by a 7-0 margin.

Last season, the Govs fell on the road at Dayton by a 4-3 scoreline. However, in that match, the Govs only had five healthy players and had to forfeit No. 3 doubles and No. 6 singles. Additionally, the Flyers lost two of their top three singles players from a year ago.

As of now, the match will be played outside, but stay tuned to @AustinPeayWTN for all news and updates.
