APSU Beach Volleyball splits doubleheader against Southern Miss

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) beach volleyball team secured its first victory of the season, 3-2, with a dramatic finish against Southern Miss, Thursday, at the Govs Beach Volleyball Complex, after falling, 4-,1 in the first match of the day.

Southern Miss came out red hot in the first match against the Governors (1-5), creating distance early on the way to their fifth victory of the season.

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsNashville, TN – No. 8 Tennessee opens play in the SEC Tournament on Friday night in the quarterfinals against Mississippi State.

The game will tip at approximately 8:30pm CT and will be televised on SEC Network and can also be viewed online through WatchESPN. Fans can listen live on their local Vol Network affiliate to hear Bob Kesling and Bert Bertelkamp describing the action.

Tennessee (27-4, 15-3 SEC) claimed the No. 3 seed in the tournament and earned a double bye. The Vols are one of the favorites to win the championship and have the opportunity to earn a top seed in the NCAA Tournament.

Clarksville Police charge Cheri Green for Hit and Run that Wiped Out Three Motorcycles

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police say through the public and media’s assistance they were able identify and locate the PT Cruiser and hit and run driver responsible for damage to three motorcycles on a parking lot on Kraft Street

The investigation into the hit and run crash lead to Cheri Chukwu Green, 31 being identified as the driver of the PT Cruiser.

Based on information provided to the investigator, Green had left a lounge on College Street after having a drink.

APSU Softball plays in Miami Invitational this weekend

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team will head north for its final in-season tournament of the year, this weekend, as it travels to Oxford, Ohio, to participate in the Miami Invitational.

The Governors (12-11) will open play, 2:00pm, Friday versus Dayton, followed by a 4:30pm matchup versus tournament host Miami University.

Clarksville Police charge Jeffrey Hairston, Jordan Hairston in Shooting on Fort Campbell Boulevard

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police report two men have been charged in the weekend shooting at the 2600 block of Fort Campbell Boulevard.

Originally police wanted to speak to Jeffrey Hairston and Jordan Hairston in reference to the shooting. But, as the investigation progressed, it was determined Jeffrey and Jordan Hairston were actually responsible for the shooting which took place in the club’s parking lot.

(L) Jordan Hairston and (R) Jeffrey Hairston have been arrested in Madisonville Kentucky and are awaiting extraditon to Clarksville.
