APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Third baseman Gino Avros beat out a potential double play, driving in the go-ahead run and igniting a four-run frame as the Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball team won its fourth consecutive game, 5-3, against Western Kentucky, Tuesday at Nick Denes Field.

Nashville Predators defeat Toronto Maple Leafs 3-0

 

Nashville PredatorsNashville, TN – The Nashville Predators had their way with the visiting Toronto Maple Leafs tonight, pitching a shutout, 3-0.  Newly acquired forward Wayne Simmonds scored his first goal as a Predator and Pekka Rinne stood tall in net, as Nashville shutout the Leafs for the second time this season.

Brian Boyle got things started for Nashville at 4:47 of the first period when he and Craig Smith pulled off the classic “give and go” to perfection, ripping the puck past Toronto goalie, Frederik Andersen for the early 1-0 lead.

Nashville would take that lead into the first intermission.

Montgomery County Animal Care and Control to hold March Madness Adoption Fee Event

During this time, adoption fees are half price, for a total cost of only $12.50.

Additionally, the normal $8.00 adoption fee for the Lonely Hearts and Golden Whisker Club members will be waived. This special covers adoption fees only and does not include possible fees such as, microchip, rabies and spay/neuter charges.

Few people knew the installation existed because, during the Cold War, the U.S. Government kept 11,000-pound Nike Hercules missiles – all aimed at Cuba – at this hidden base.

Clarksville Police Department to hold 2019 Student Traffic Awareness Training May 25th

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Police Department (CPD) will be holding Student Traffic Awareness Training (S.T.A.T.) classes at the Grace Nazarene Church on May 25th, 2019. Classes will be held from 9:00am until 1:00pm. These classes are free.

This is a four (4) hour class for high school students between the ages of 15 and 19.

Give Blood with American Red Cross this Spring, Be a Lifesaver

American Red CrossNashville, TN – Eligible blood donors of all blood types – especially type O – are urged to give blood through the American Red Cross now to help ensure a sufficient supply for hospital patients this spring.

By giving blood, donors may be helping someone like 5-year-old Emery Twehues, who was diagnosed with acute lymphocytic leukemia last spring.

101st Airborne Division to Say Goodbye to Top Senior Enlisted Leader Todd Sims

 

101st Airborne Division 

Fort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – The top senior enlisted leader of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Command Sgt. Maj. Todd Sims, will relinquish responsibility of the world’s only air assault division in a ceremony at Fort Campbell, March 20th at 10:00am.

Sims held the position as the division’s senior enlisted leader since April 2017. He will move on to become the senior enlisted leader for First Army, at Rock Island Arsenal, Illinois.

During Sims tenure as “Eagle 7,” the 101st Airborne Division deployed Soldiers to combat, contingency and peacekeeping missions around the world, to include Operation Inherent Resolve in Iraq, Operation Freedom’s Sentinel in Afghanistan, dozens of training and partnership missions on the African and European continents, and hurricane and disaster relief missions in Puerto Rico and the United States.
