APSU Baseball’s Jacques Pucheu earns OVC Pitcher of the Week award

APSU BaseballBrentwood, TN – For the first time in his career, Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball’s Jacques Pucheu has been named the Ohio Valley Conference’s Pitcher of the Week, Monday.

Pucheu, of Gulfport, Mississippi, struck out a career-high 12 batters in an win against Tennessee Tech, Saturday, that was part of a OVC series sweep by the Governors.

He faced just 23 batters over six scoreless innings and held TTU to two hits and three walks.

The left-hander has begun his senior campaign in stellar fashion with a league-leading 0.87 earned-run average through his first five starts that also is ranked 23rd nationally. He has allowed just 13 hits in 37 innings pitched, ranking ninth nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (3.77).

Pucheu also was recognized by College Sport Madness as its pick for OVC Player of the Week.

Austin Peay begins a four-game road trip with a 5:00pm, Tuesday contest at Western Kentucky. The Governors will turn to Pucheu again this weekend when it meets Southeast Missouri in a three-game OVC series, Friday-Sunday in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
