APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – After a stellar weekend in the circle for the Governors, Austin Peay State University’s Morgan Rackel has swept a trio of weekly softball honors for the second time this season.

2019 APSU Softball - Morgan Rackel

Following Monday’s announcement of her second selection this spring as the Ohio Valley Conference Pitcher of the Week, Rackel was also tabbed as the collegesportsmadness.com Player of the Week and the Tennessee Sports Writers’ College Pitcher of the Week.

This is the third time in her career Rackel, a native of Calgary, Alberta, Canada, has taken all three honors in the same week, with the others coming in the first week of March this year and the first week of May, 2018.

Rackel opened her week with a 4-1, three-hit, 10-strikeout complete-game victory versus Miami University – carrying a shutout into the bottom of the sixth inning.

She would follow that with a 6-0 shutout win versus Dayton — her fourth shutout of the season – giving up five hits and a walk while striking out seven.

Rackel would wrap-up the weekend with 5-2 win over Michigan State, holding the Spartans to five hits and two runs – only one earned – while walking three and striking out six.

Overall, Rackel had a 0.67 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 21 innings while holding opponents to a .178 team batting average, a WHIP of 0.81 and a walk-to-strikeout ratio of 5.75-to-1.

Rackel’s trifecta of honors also marks the third time this spring a Governors player has swept the trio of awards, with senior third baseman Danielle Liermann taking OVC Player of the Week honors as well as collegesportsmadness.com Player of the Week and the Tennessee Sports Writers College Player of the Week back on March 6th.
