#6 Tennessee Vols take on Iowa in second round of NCAA Tournament

Tennessee Volunteers - UT VolsColumbus, OH – With a spot in the Sweet Sixteen on the line, the Tennessee Vols are set to take on 10th-seed Iowa in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at Nationwide Arena in the South Region. The game tips at 11:10am CT and will be televised live on CBS.

Tennessee is 30-5 on the season. That impressive record includes a school-record 19-game winning streak, a program-record-tying three victories over top-five opponents and the second most victories in a single season in program history. The Tennessee Vols spent four weeks atop the Associated Press Top 25 rankings, and for the first time in program history, UT spent the entire season ranked among the top 10.

Nashville Predators humiliated by Winnipeg 5-0

 

Nashville PredatorsWinnipeg, Manitoba, Canada – The Nashville Predators were no match tonight for the central division leading Winnipeg Jets, getting shutout 5-0.

There will be a lot of soul searching in the Predators locker room after this one, and it will be interesting to see which direction this team goes from here. 

Nashville was hoping for a chance to take over the division with a win, and now they’re looking over their shoulder at St. Louis making a charge for second place.

Nashville Zoo Spring Gardening Classes start April 6th

Nashville ZooNashville, TN – Nashville Zoo and the Davidson County Master Gardeners are hosting gardening classes on three Saturdays this April and the first Saturday in May. The informal sessions cover a variety of topics, including composting and organic gardening. The last class will help plant our new children’s garden.

Spring gardening classes are free with Zoo admission and take place at 11:00am at the Grassmere Historic Farm gardens located behind the home. Master Gardeners leading the session will answer guests’ questions and provide handouts and other helpful items.

Tennessee Lady Vols lose To #20/24 UCLA at NCAA Tournament, 89-77

UT Lady VolsCollege Park, MD – The No. 11 seed Tennessee Lady Vols (19-13) erased a 17-point deficit and led by as many as three in the fourth quarter, but their upset bid came up short in falling to No. 6 seed UCLA (21-12) in the first round of the NCAA Tournament at the XFINITY Center, 89-77.
 
Sophomore Rennia Davis had a double-double for Tennessee with 21 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore Kasiyahna Kushkituah recorded a career-high 16 points, while freshman Mimi Collins, who hails from nearby Waldorf, MD, tied her career high of 14 points.

Mosul, Iraq – 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment (Bulldog Battalion), 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division currently operates in an advise-and-assist capacity in Mosul, Iraq.

The Bulldog Battalion employs its forces to a myriad of mission tasks aimed at strengthening the Iraqi forces within the area of operations.

U.S. Army Soldiers from HHC and C Co 1-327 IN with their Iraqi Police Counterparts. 1-327 IN is advising and assisting Mosul Police to improve their facilities and the use of available training. The relationship between the K9 unit and their Coalition advisors is important to ensure successful checkpoint operations. (1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division)

In September 2014 Sergeant DeRose joined the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office working as a School Resource Officer.

APSU Women's VolleyballTallahassee, FL – In its final match of the Seminole Beach Battle, the Austin Peay State University (APSU) beach volleyball team fell to No. 15 Arizona, 5-0, Saturday morning.

The Governors’ (4-8) No. 4 pairing of Lucy Randall and Chloe Stitt pushed the Wildcats’ duo of Sarah Blacker and Jasmine Safar to the brink in the first set.
