Austin Peay State University Tennis’ Christian Edison earns OVC Player of the Week honors

APSU Men's TennisBrentwood, TNChristian Edison, of the Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s tennis team, was named Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office, Wednesday, March 27th, 2019.

Edison was the standout performer for the Govs in the win over Tennessee State to open OVC play.

The sophomore teamed with Timo Kiesslich at No. 2 doubles for a 6-1 win, helping the Govs to win the doubles point.

In singles, Edison continued his dominance, taking his No. 2 singles match by a score of 6-1, 6-1. It was the largest margin of victory for Edison this season and the second largest by a Gov this season. Edison has won his last two singles and doubles matches.

“Alvin (Christian) has been working hard building his game over the year,” said Governors head coach Ross Brown. “He is becoming more and more confident as the season moves along. I am proud of him and his effort.”

The award is the first weekly honor for Edison in his APSU career. Edison and the Govs continue OVC play by taking on Jacksonville State on the road, Friday.
