In the pole vault, it was fair to bet that both Savannah Amato and Dascha Hix had a little rust to knock off after sitting out last week at Vanderbilt; the duo both posted 3.80m marks, with Amato finishing 15th and Hix 20th based on attempts.

In the 100m hurdles, placed third in the seventh heat and 38th overall with a 14.33 mark. In the 4x400m relay, the Govs put forth two quartets, with the A-unit of Kyra Wilder, Sabrina Richman, Amelia Thiesing and Allana Johnson hitting 3:47.09—beating last season’s showing at this event, at which Richman, Thiesing and Johnson competed by nearly two-tenths of a second—to place 23rd. A second grouping of Mikaela Smith, Jessica Kelley, Madison Morstad and Molly Howard—all freshmen—checked in at 4:01.96.

Meanwhile in Cape Girardeau, Emmaculate Kiplagat got the Joey Haines Invitational part of Austin Peay’s weekend off to a good start with a win in the 10,000m run, posting a 37:42.39 for the victory.

Both the Florida Relays and the Joey Haines Invitational wrap up Saturday, in Gainesville and Cape Girardeau, respectively.
