Demorest has worked with CMCSS since 2003, beginning as an accountant. Previous experience includes serving as an auditor for Bateman, Weatherspoon and Associates; and as a supervisory accountant for the 98th ASG Central Accounting Department in Wurzburg, Germany.

She began her career at KPMG Peat Marwick in El Paso, Texas, where she worked for five years, leaving as a supervising senior accountant.

“Mrs. Demorest has many strengths, not only as an accountant, but as one who is exceptionally familiar with the CMCSS budget process. She also has made important connections at the state level in terms of understanding school finance laws and how to navigate an exceptionally complicated school funding formula,” said Schools Director Millard House, II.

Under Demorest’s watchful eye, CMCSS has had exemplary audits by the Tennessee Comptroller of the Treasury. “Having someone who sets the standard for responsible and documented oversight of the taxpayer’s money is crucial. That is exactly what she has done with integrity,” House added.

Demorest earned her bachelor of business administration degree from the University of Hawaii. She is a certified public accountant and will complete her certification as a County Finance Officer this year. She and her husband, Glen, have three children who have graduated from CMCSS schools.

Their son, Nick, graduated from Georgia Tech University with a degree in aerospace engineering; their daughter, Leann, graduated from Purdue University with a degree in chemical engineering; and, their youngest daughter, Emily, is a sophomore at Purdue, studying marketing.
