APSU’s cadets earned that right by finishing first among ROTC teams in a relay race earlier this week.

They crossed the starting line this morning with two British teams (the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst red and blue teams) and another ROTC team (Central State University).

The competition will continue into the night tonight and through Saturday evening. Anyone can follow the competition via the internet and social media at https://westpoint.edu/military/department-of-military-instruction/sandhurst.

Austin Peay qualified for the Sandhurst for the first time in school history.

Austin Peay’s cadets arrived at the West Point, New York, competition on Sunday ready to go.

“They’re pretty motivated, and they think they’re going to do really well, and I do too,” Keith Colman, the team’s coach, said. “They’re real strong. They’ve been training hard for three months now.”

From Tuesday-Friday this week, we have posted video interviews of members of the team, including the 11 who traveled to the U.S. Military Academy to compete and the alternates who are still at Austin Peay but rooting their teammates on.

We hope you enjoy getting to know our cadets.
