Kerrville, TX – I will always remember the first time I traveled to Texas on a motorcycle.
I was just starting my journey into this lifestyle and was SO excited to visit good friends, and ride the Texas hill country that I had heard so much about.
After making a couple of trips here, I hadn’t been back for over a year, but that all changed this week.
I was asked to join a group of bikers to come ride the Texas hill country, so I jumped at the opportunity.
One of our main objectives was to ride the “Twisted Sisters.” During my previous trips here, I had NO idea about the names of any notable motorcycle routes, I just followed my friends wherever they took me and it was amazing!
This trip gave me the opportunity to ride with new friends. To spend some time on the road and get a chance to know each other better.
Other than some H.O.G chapter rides, several of us had not really had the opportunity to get to know each other.
Kerrville Texas was where we bunked for our stay and is apparently a real “hotbed” for bikers. From here, it’s easy to access the twisted sisters, and bikers are drawn here from all over the country.
The “Three Hill Country Ranch Roads” as it’s also known, is highways 335, 336, and 337. Plenty of gas options, food and souvenir opportunities exist along the way, but it’s the hill country that’s the main attraction.
The first thing I noticed was that the roads are a bit “choppy” and at times, it seemed as though my teeth were rattling, but apparently that’s by design.
It didn’t distract from the beauty of the hill country and the challenges of the route. It’s not for the faint at heart and total concentration is a must.
People have died out here.
You MUST visit the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum and have a burger at the Bent Rim Grill along the way. They’re both worth the stop.
This trip though has been more about the fellowship and the opportunity to meet new people. I’m honored to be with several military veterans on this trip.
We rode 900 miles to get here and it was worth it.
I’ve ridden the Rocky Mountains, the Smokey Mountains and across the Kentucky “bluegrass.” I’ve cut across Kansas, and ridden through the Ozarks, but hands down, Texas will always be one of my favorites.
