First Inning dooms Nashville Sounds against Round Rock Express

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – The Round Rock Express scored six runs in the first inning and ultimately kept the Sounds at bay as Nashville was defeated 8-2.

Round Rock’s six-run first inning was fueled by six consecutive hits. Derek Fisher and Jack Mayfield hit back-to-back doubles to start things off. Yordan Alvarez hit Mayfield in with a single and was followed by Kyle Tucker with another double to put runners at second and third base.

Alvarez and Tucker scored on a Nick Tanielu single. To cap off the six-hit first inning, Taylor Jones hit a two-run homer to make it 6-0.

APSU Women’s Tennis defeats Murray State, clinches share of regular season title

APSU Women's TennisMurray, KY – The latest installment of the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border went to the Austin Peay State University (APSU) women’s tennis team, as they defeated rival Murray State on the road, 5-2, Wednesday, at the Bennie Purcell Tennis Courts.

The Governors (19-0, 7-0 OVC) clinched a share of the Ohio Valley Conference Regular Season title with their first road win over the Racers (12-8, 6-2 OVC) since the 2009-10 season.

Nashville Predators manhandled by the Dallas Stars 5-1

 

Nashville PredatorsDallas, TX – The Nashville Predators were dominated by the Dallas Stars tonight, 5-1.  Every aspect of the Dallas attack was on point as the Stars evened the series 2-2.

The two teams head back to Nashville for a Saturday afternoon matinee at the Bridgestone Arena.  Puck drop is at 2:00pm.

The Predators never knew what hit them as the Stars scored three goals within the first ten minutes of the game.  Nashville didn’t help their cause any with four penalties in the first period, putting Dallas on the power play.

Tennessee State Fire MarshalNashville, TN – Tennessee’s overall fire death rate continues to decline following the national downward trend in the reduction of fire deaths according to statistics compiled in the recently completed annual report for the Tennessee State Fire Marshal’s Office (SFMO).

The report, which includes details of Tennessee’s overall declining fire death rate along with statewide fire prevention and education efforts, compiles data provided by fire departments from across the Volunteer State along with information, statistics, and advancements made by the SFMO’s eight sections: Education & Outreach; Fire Investigations; Codes Enforcement; Residential, Electrical and Marina Inspections; Manufactured Housing and Modular Buildings; Fire Service and Codes Enforcement Academy; Firefighting Commission; and Administrative Services.

APSU Beach Volleyball faces Coastal Carolina in ASUN Tournament, Thursday

APSU Women's VolleyballClarksville, TN – Beach volleyball is still in its infancy at the collegiate level – but growing – and the Austin Peay State University (APSU) program is only in its third season of existence.

Not only is the Governors’ program young, but so is the roster. With three juniors, seven sophomores and three freshmen, everyone on the roster will have eligibility remaining next year, save for graduate transfer Ciera Koons.

Clarksville Police charge fourth Person for Post Road Homicide, Jadon Malone

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – On May 11th, 2018 around 12:30am, Clarksville Police Officers responded to the 2000 block of Post Road for a home invasion where a teenage adult male had been shot.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Tennova Healthcare – Clarksville where he was pronounced dead.

As of April 15th there has been 3 individuals charged and booked in reference to this Homicide Investigation.

Clarksville firefighters to join Sound the Alarm event April 27th

American Red CrossClarksville, TN – American Red Cross and Clarksville Fire Rescue volunteers will visit homes to help install free smoke alarms during a national effort against home fires.

The local home fire safety and smoke alarm installation event, known as Sound the Alarm, will begin at 9:00am Saturday, April 27th, 2019 at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, 303 Market Street.

Clarksville Fire Rescue Annual Hydrant Flushing, Testing underway

Residents may notice water on streets, low water pressure

Clarksville Fire RescueClarksville, TN – City wide annual fire hydrant flushing and testing began this week by Clarksville Fire Rescue personnel and will continue throughout all areas of Clarksville through mid-June.

Clarksville Fire Rescue performs annual flow and pressure tests and flushes every city-owned fire hydrant to ensure they are adequate and operational for firefighting.

Clarksville Gas and Water Department personnel also flush hydrants throughout the year as part of their routine maintenance process.
