APSU Softball splits games with Eastern Kentucky Sunday

 

APSU SoftballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team sent the winningest senior class in program history out with a victory Sunday afternoon, April 28th, 2019 at Cathi Maynard Park-Cheryl Holt Field, taking the second game of an Ohio Valley Conference doubleheader versus Eastern Kentucky, 11-3, after dropping the opener, 3-1.

Nashville Sounds win one, lose one at Iowa Cubs

 

Nashville SoundsDes Moines, IA – On Saturday, April 28th, the Nashville Sounds and Iowa Cubs split their doubleheader at Principal Park on Sunday afternoon after getting off to a late start due to cold and rain. Matt Davidson, who homered in each game of the twinbill, hit back-to-back home runs with Eli White to fuel the Sounds to a 7-3 win in Game 1, and Iowa got revenge by throttling the Sounds 19-5 in Game 2.

The Sounds never trailed in Game 1 and had three separate innings where they started a rally with two outs and the bases empty.

APSU Baseball beats SIU Edwardsville 13-11, now tied for First in OVC

 

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) baseball team came through with a three run seventh inning to give enough breathing room to post a 13-11 Ohio Valley Conference victory against SIU Edwardsville on Joe Maynard Field at Raymond C. Hand Park. With the win, Austin Peay completed a sweep of the three-game league series.

584th Maintenance Company to receive new Metal Working and Machining Shop Set at Fort Campbell

 

101st Sustainment Brigade - LifelinersFort Campbell KY - 101st Airborne DivisionFort Campbell, KY – With a rush of noise and a flurry of sparks, the new plasma cutter came to life, with Soldiers of the 584th Maintenance Company, 129th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), watching attentively as civilian engineering instructors demonstrated how to use the machine to cut through sheet metal.

The plasma cutter is one of many pieces of equipment housed within the Metal Working and Machining Shop Set (MWMSS) given to the 584th Maintenance Company, who base their operations out of Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

U.S. SenateWashington, D.C. – Just this week, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) reported the largest outbreak of measles in the United States since 2000. The alarming increase in measles cases underscores the importance of vaccines and immunizations in our country.

The U.S. Senate recently passed my bipartisan Vaccines Save Lives resolution to send a clear and unequivocal message of Congressional support for vaccines and to urge parents, in consultation with their health care providers, to follow scientific evidence and the consensus of medical experts in favor of timely vaccinations for the well-being of their children and surrounding communities.

AAA reports Demand continues to Drive Up Gas Prices, Shrink Stocks

 

AAATampa, FL – AAA reports that consumer gasoline demand this spring remains robust as stocks continue to decline.

In its latest weekly petroleum report, the Energy Information Administration revealed that while demand decreased slightly to 9.41 million b/d last week, the rate is more than 325,000 b/d higher than where it was last year at this time.
