APSU Baseball crushes Jacksonville 12-1 at Raymond C. Hand Field

 

APSU BaseballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University baseball first baseman Parker Phillips hit an early solo home run, and the Governors pulled away late in a dominant 12-1 nonconference victory against Jacksonville, Friday night on Joe Maynard Field at Raymond C. Hand Park.

APSU Softball takes both games from UT Martin, OVC Title within reach

 

APSU SoftballMartin, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) softball team knew coming into the final weekend of the regular season they would need to win all four games to earn a share of the Ohio Valley Conference regular-season title and they’re half-way to that goal after sweeping UT Martin, Friday at Bettye Giles Field, by 3-2 and 4-1 finals.

All that remains between the Govs and a share of their first-ever OVC title, in their 34-year history, are two OVC victories Sunday, May 5th at SIU Edwardsville with the first pitch set for 1:00pm.

Memphis Redbirds blow out Nashville Sounds, 17-2

 

Nashville SoundsNashville, TN – Nashville Sounds fall to Memphis Redbirds in series opener Friday night 17-2 at First Tennessee Park. Memphis knocked 24 hits, tying Nashville’s franchise record for most hits allowed.

Nine of Memphis’ runs came in the top of the second inning. Adolis Garcia led with a single and Rangel Ravelo hit a double to put runners on second and third base. Lane Thomas hit a two-run double to score the first couple runs of the inning.

After an Edmundo Sosa single, Ramon Urias hit an RBI single to knock in Thomas. Tommy Edman brought home Sosa and Urias on a home run.

Drew Robinson and John Nogowski both singled to get things started up again. Garcia came up for a second time in the inning to hit an RBI single that scored Robinson.

2nd Brigade Combat Team - StrikeFort Campbell KY, 101st Airborne DivisionYavoriv, Ukraine – Soldiers of 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) took authority of the Joint Multinational Training Group – Ukraine here, May 2nd, 2019.

The 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment of the Tennessee National Guard, “Task Force Saber”, transferred authority of the JMTG-U to “Task Force Carentan”.

Task Force Saber deployed to the Yavoriv Combat Training Center in July 2018 with over 200 troops in support of CTC cadre development.
