State of Tennessee issues Clarksville Water System a Perfect Score

Tennessee review shows Clarksville’s Water Supply is Safe, Reliable

City of Clarksville - Clarksville, TNClarksville, TN – A perfect score was earned by Clarksville’s water system on its sanitary survey evaluation by the State of Tennessee.

The survey, conducted by the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation, Division of Water Resources, is the product of an unannounced onsite review by a survey team, which evaluates and inspects every facet of the water system and ensures the City of Clarksville is delivering safe and reliable drinking water to the public.

This is the fourth time the Clarksville water system has achieved a perfect score of 100 since first achieving it in 2010.

“People turn on the faucet, get great water, and take it for granted,” Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts said. “But achieving a perfect score takes a well-trained workforce that makes sure Clarksville’s families have the highest quality water possible.”

The survey team evaluated the Clarksville water system over four days in March and April, covering the time period from June 2017 through March 2019. Facets of the system including water quality, records, plant performance, treatment techniques, sampling procedures, equipment calibration and maintenance were meticulously inspected. The team also inspected the water distribution system’s storage tanks and booster stations with satisfactory results.

Mark Riggins, Gas & Water Interin General Manager, credits the perfect score to employees’ hard work, expertise, pride in their profession and dedication to the certification program.

The perfect score demonstrates the knowledge, technical expertise and commitment of employees who monitor systems around the clock and perform numerous water quality tests.

The evaluation includes Clarksville’s Annual Drinking Water Quality Report containing important water quality information. The annual report, also known as the “Consumer Confidence Report,” shows the results of water quality tests performed by the Clarksville water system from January 1st to December 31st, 2018.

The report was direct mailed to customers in their May billing statement, e-billing customers were notified on their e-bill notice and print copies were delivered to more than 8,000 non-billing customers.
