Nashville Sounds fall to Omaha Storm Chasers, 9-2

 

Nashville SoundsPapillion, NE – The Nashville Sounds’ offense was unable to get on track in 9-2 loss to Omaha Storm Chasers Friday night at Werner Park. The Sounds had lost 1-0 in the opener of the series and gone 21 consecutive scoreless innings when they managed runs late in Friday’s game.

Omaha took a 1-0 lead in the first against Austin Bibens-Dirkx and doubled the lead with a Nick Dini homer in the bottom of the fifth.

TWRA to participate in Operation Dry Water

 

Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency - TWRANashville, TN – The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) will be taking part in Operation Dry Water, July 5th-7th, 2019. Operation Dry Water is a national weekend of Boating Under the Influence (BUI) awareness and enforcement campaign directed toward reducing alcohol and drug-related accidents and fatalities.

Operation Dry Water is held annually near the Fourth of July holiday to give BUI enforcement high visibility during the peak boating season.

Clarksville Gas and Water announces Water Main Installation Work to Close Locust Street

 

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Gas and Water Department (CGW) will start a month long 6-inch water main installation contract project on Locust Street on Monday, July 8th, 2019.

The work will close Locust Street to through traffic daily, Monday-Friday, at 7:00am until 5:30pm from Providence Boulevard to E Street.

Mic Check Monday features Gospel Groups July 8th

 

Visit Clarksville TennesseeClarksville, TN – On July 8th, 2019, the free Mic Check Monday concert series will feature three Gospel groups and a spoken word artist at Downtown Commons. Concerts will take place each Monday in July.

Opening the event at 6:00pm is the Send Judah. Lead Singer Danita Batista has been singing for over 30 years.

Clarksville Police report Man shot, killed off Eight Street

 

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Officers were called to a shooting that had already occurred at the basketball court off of Eight Street Thursday, July 4th, 2019 around 11:08pm.

Officers arrived on scene within minutes and found a man on the basketball court who had been shot multiple times.

He was taken by ground transportation to a Nashville hospital where he was pronounced dead.

Clarksville Police are investigating a homicide that took place on a basketball court just off of Eight Street.

Tina Brown Band headlines Downtown @ Sundown this Friday at Downtown Commons

 

2019 Downtown Commons’ Downtown @ Sundown Concert SeriesMontgomery County, TN – Friday, July 5th, the Downtown @ Sundown Concert Series will take place at 7:00pm at the Downtown Commons.

Come out to Downtown Clarksville for a night of Free music and fun. Local power house, Tina Brown Band, will take the stage at 8:00pm with a variety of new and old R&B and soul music.

Food and activity vendors will be on hand at Downtown Commons. Delicious food is also available in several of the downtown restaurants.

NASA Engineers install SuperCam Mast Unit on Mars 2020 Rover

 

NASA - National Aeronautics and Space AdministrationPasadena, CA – Engineers have installed the SuperCam Mast Unit onto the Mars 2020 rover at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California. The instrument’s camera, laser and spectrometers can identify the chemical and mineral makeup of targets as small as a pencil point from a distance of more than 20 feet (6 meters).

SuperCam is a next-generation version of the ChemCam instrument operating on NASA’s Curiosity Mars rover. It has been developed jointly in the U.S., France and Spain.
