Clarksville Police report Joseph Karnes Sentenced to Three Years for Vehicular Homicide

Clarksville Police Department - CPDClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police report that Joseph Karnes, age 27, has been sentenced to three years in Tennessee Department of Corrections for Vehicular Homicide and to one year Probation for Leaving the Scene of a Crash Resulting in Death in conjunction with a motor vehicle crash occurring July 2nd, 2016.

The crash occurred at Tiny Town Road and Cainlo Drive July 2nd, 2016 around 6:00am.

Joseph Karnes (age 24 at the time), driving a Chevrolet Silverado was attempting to make a left turn on to Cainlo Drive from eastbound Tiny Town Road left travel lane and struck a 2002 Harley ridden by Jeremy Halstead, age 29, traveling west on Tiny Town Road.

Karnes left the scene of the crash and was later located at a Loupin Lane address.

Jeremy Halstead was transported to Tennova Healthcare where he died from his injuries.

Joseph Karnes blood alcohol content result was a 0.14.

Karnes was sentenced July 10th, 2019.

The lead investigator was Officer Larry Harris.
