Nashville Sounds falter late in 7-5 loss to San Antonio Missions

 

Nashville SoundsSan Antonio, TX -The Nashville Sounds fell to the San Antonio Missions 7-5 at Nelson W. Wolff Stadium Wednesday night. The loss was the Sounds fourth straight.

Nashville was in charge by a score of 4-2 when San Antonio plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take control. The Missions never trailed the rest of the way.

For the fifth consecutive game, the Sounds allowed at least one run in the first inning. Starter Austin Bibens-Dirks battled control issues early when he uncorked a wild pitch allowing the first run of the game and a bases-loaded walk to give the Missions a 2-0 lead after one inning.

Clarksville Gas and Water announces sewer main rehabilitation work on Palamino Drive started Today

 

CGW Work to take place through late Friday

Clarksville Gas and Water Department - CGWClarksville, TN – Today, July 17th, 2019, the Clarksville Gas and Water Department has started sewer main rehabilitation contract work on an 18-inch gravity sewer main line located on Palamino Drive and Roan Drive.

Contract workers staged equipment in the Palamino Drive neighborhood this week and will be working in phases in the following days to set up a bypass line, clean and prepare the existing line and perform the rehabilitation line work.

APSU Basketball adds grad transfer Reginald Gee

 

APSU Men's BasketballClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) head men’s basketball coach Matt Figger, in the last two seasons, has added a grad transfer who proved to be a huge piece of the puzzle. In 2018, Averyl Ugba earned all-conference honors; in 2019, Jabari McGhee was an instrumental reserve in Austin Peay’s first 20-win season since 2011.

USO Show Troupe opens Downtown @ Sundown at Downtown Commons, Friday

 

2019 Downtown Commons’ Downtown @ Sundown Concert SeriesMontgomery County, TN – The next Downtown @ Sundown Concert is this Friday, July 19th, 2019. The USO has partnered with Downtown Commons for a spectacular event.

The USO Show Troupe will open the night at 7:00pm with an arrangement of classic Americana songs. Country acoustic artist, Andrea Guess jumps on at 8:00pm with the USO Show Troupe returning around 9:00pm to rock out the night with some upbeat jams.

Cooling at the Cave to be held at Dunbar Cave, Saturday July 27th, 2019

 

Dunbar Cave State ParkClarksville, TN – On Saturday, July 27th, 2019, the Friends of Dunbar Cave will celebrate the tradition of Cooling at the Cave from 3:00pm-5:00pm at the entrance to historic Dunbar Cave.

The concert is free and open to the public. What better way to spend a summer afternoon than Cooling at the Cave enjoying the music of the Cumberland Winds Jazz Project.

Prior to air conditioning being widely available, locals would gather at the mouth of the cave to enjoy the cool air gently blowing from the mouth of the cave.

Clarksville Parks and Recreation forming NFL Youth Flag Football League

 

Clarksville Parks and Recreation DepartmentClarksville, TN – The Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department is offering an organized NFL flag football league for youths in Clarksville this fall. Austin Peay State University - APSUClarksville, TNAn Imperfect Rapture – the most recent winner of the Austin Peay State University (APSU)  Zone 3 Press Creative Nonfiction Book Award – has earned its author, Kelly J. Beard, two prestigious honors this summer.

The Community of Literary Magazines & Presses named Beard a finalist for the 2019 Firecracker Awards – which honor the best self- and independently published books of fiction, creative nonfiction and poetry. The awards were on June 5th, 2019.
