Montgomery County, TN – The Montgomery County Democratic Party invites the community to hear prominent political figures discuss key issues on relevant topics affecting our state and country.
Panel participants will be U.S. Senate Candidate James Mackler, Justin Kanew of The Tennessee Holler, and State Representatives Jason Hodges (Clarksville), Darren Jernigan (Nashville), and London Lamar (Memphis).
This forum promises to be an enjoyable and educational evening of civil discourse and conversation with the panelists and other progressive advocates.
The event will be held on August 15th from 6:00pm – 8:00pm at The Tanglewood House, 1601 Madison Street. Appetizers and a cash bar will be available for attendees before the panel starts at 6:30pm.
Tickets may be purchased at the door or online at actblue.com/donate/democraticvoices_8-15. The $20.00 ticket includes admission, appetizers, non-alcoholic beverages, 1-hour panel discussion, and 20 minute audience Q&A. A cash bar will have wine and beer available for additional purchase.
A wide range of topics will be discussed, such as: healthcare policy and its effect on Tennesseans, the threat of school voucher programs to our education system, the role of lobbying groups at the state and national level, and ways to preserve our democracy and fight corruption.
MCDP Chairwoman Kennedy Voxe feels passionately that political discourse cannot be limited to Facebook comments, one-sided town halls, and opinions of pundits and talking heads.
“We absolutely have to be proactive when it comes to issue education. This work has to start now, and the MCDP is going to have to fight hard over the next 7 months to combat the political apathy that is so prevalent in this county.”
As these panels continue to be hosted by the MCDP, Ms. Voxe plans to bring together local, state, and national officials alongside community leaders, activists, content creators, and organizers, so people can understand a more holistic view of some of the more complicated policies currently being proposed.
